Too often we “fear” the Spirit because we are nervous of being labeled charismatic. Our life motives are changed and our inward drives made new. A genuine encounter with the Savior should begin the “divine conquest” of our lives. Real faith must always mean more than passive acceptance. ![]() We must experience God!Ĭan a person become a believer in Christ and be no better than he was before? No. There is a big difference between knowing about God and knowing God. Doctrine, theological ideas, religious teaching…are all worthless if we have not had a genuine encounter with God. I’ve read several books by Tozer, and this is by far the best and most personally challenging. I have an antique copy of The Divine Conquest, and it looks like the book was given a new title at some point: The Pursuit of Man: The Divine Conquest of the Human Heart. This book is the sequel to The Pursuit of God, which is perhaps Tozer’s most well known book. Recently I was browsing my “history” on amazon and saw a review I wrote in 2006 of: The Divine Conquest by A.W. Before I had a blog, I wrote some book reviews on amazon. ![]()
